Community Partnership Brings Needed Funding to Bloomington
West Valley Water District and Supervisor Joe Baca Jr. fund community infrastructure project to ensure water reliability and safety
RIALTO, Calif.- West Valley Water District (WVWD) is proud to announce that through a partnership with San Bernardino County 5th District Supervisor Joe Baca Jr. it has secured a $1.5 million investment for the community of Bloomington to fund the Bloomington Alleyway Water Main Replacement Project – Phase 3C. This project will improve fire hydrant flow and emergency response capabilities while providing a more dependable and reliable water supply for Bloomington residents.
"We are grateful for the continued support of Supervisor Joe Baca Jr., who has long been a champion for West Valley Water District and its customers,” said Board President Greg Young. “As a resident of Bloomington, I know first-hand how this funding will benefit our community.”
Over the course of many decades, fences, buildings, and other structures have been built in the alleyways of Bloomington, limiting WVWD’s ability to repair leaks, read meters, locate shutoff valves, and perform regular and emergency maintenance. To address this, WVWD has developed a phased approach to replace this aging water infrastructure, including pipelines and fire hydrants.
“We are proud to champion this critical project for South Bloomington, which will not only modernize our water system but also improve emergency response, enhance fire safety, and provide more dependable service for our community,” said Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr.
The funds will be used to complete the last phase of the Bloomington Alleyway Main Replacement Project Phase 3C to invest in water reliability and services for one of the district’s most disadvantaged communities. The total estimated cost of the project is $3,800,000.
The investment was approved at the February 25, 2025, San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors by a 4-0 vote.
