Water District spotlights the hard work and dedication of Water Professionals
RIALTO, Calif.- West Valley Water District (WVWD) is proud to celebrate the ninth annual Water Professionals Appreciation Week, recognizing the essential role water professionals and local public water agencies play in ensuring reliable water services.
Established by Senate Concurrent Resolution 80 in 2017, Water Professionals Appreciation Week is observed annually during the first full week of October. This statewide recognition honors the dedication and expertise of the people who keep California’s water systems flowing.
“Behind every faucet and fire hydrant is a complex system of pipelines, pump stations, wells, tanks, treatment facilities, and highly skilled water professionals,” said WVWD General Manager John Thiel. “This week we honor our 88 employees who work together to overcome all kinds of challenges to keep your water running safely and reliably every hour of every day all year long!”
From engineers and treatment plant operators to technicians, accountants, and customer service representatives, WVWD’s highly trained staff represent the wide range of skills required to meet today’s water challenges. Through navigating extreme weather change, and maintaining aging infrastructure, their commitment to providing reliable water has been unwavering.
“Water is essential to life, and so are the people who work to protect and deliver it every day.,” said WVWD Board Director Kelvin Moore. “That’s why we’re committed to creating programs that highlight the wide range of career opportunities in the water industry and inspire the next generation of leaders to pursue this meaningful and rewarding field.”
WVWD encourages the community to take a moment to thank water professionals for their service. If you see WVWD employees in your neighborhood, be sure to say thank you.
