WVWD Honors Staff During Water Professionals Appreciation Week
West Valley Water District (WVWD) is proud to recognize the vital work of its employees as it celebrates Water Professionals Appreciation Week. Celebrated during the first week of October, the annual celebration recognizes the essential role of water professionals and local public water agencies in providing reliable water services to their communities.
From engineers and treatment operators to customer service and finance professionals, this weeklong celebration is more than a thank you. It’s an opportunity to honor the people who work every day to ensure WVWD customers can rely on clean water from the tap. This observance celebrates the diverse workforce in the water industry, all of whom play a critical role in keeping California’s water systems running.
“Every drop that reaches your home is a demonstration of the hard work and dedication of West Valley Water District employees,” said Board President Kelvin Moore. “Together as a team, we will continue to work not only to reassure our customers that their water services are reliable, but also the work we do will serve our communities for generations to come.”
Water Professionals Appreciation Week was established in 2017 after the passage of Senate Concurrent Resolution (SCR) 80, which formally recognizes the contributions of water industry professionals. The annual observance begins on the first Saturday of October and concludes the following Sunday.
“One of the most incredible things about the West Valley Water District is watching the everyday operations, camaraderie, and dedication each person puts into their craft to help us reach our mission,” said WVWD General Manager John Thiel. “Recognizing and appreciating water workers at every level is essential. This week provides an opportunity to educate those who may not know about the detailed work done to ensure we have our most valuable resource, water.”
WVWD encourages community members and partners to join the celebration by using #ThankWaterPros on Instagram, Facebook, and X to recognize local water professionals and learn about the diverse and rewarding careers available in the water industry.
